Frequently Asked Questions

A microbe is a microscopic bacteria organism.  Micro-Blaze® microbes are found naturally in the world’s soils and waters.  We have selected the specific strains of microbes for their affinity for hydrocarbons and other organic contaminants commonly found in the commercial/industrial workplace.

Micro-Blaze® microbial products contain a unique proprietary blend of wetting agents, nutrients, and safe, non-pathogenic, spore-forming bacteria.

A proprietary blend of Bacillus spores – they are natural, non-pathogenic bacteria. Upon application onto a spill or contaminated soil, the microbes germinate, and become active within 15 to 20 minutes. In ideal conditions, the microbes double in population every 20 minutes, and will digest the waste as long as all of the necessary ingredients (water, oxygen, and a food source, i.e. the organic waste) are present. The harmless byproducts of their degradation process are carbon dioxide, water, and trace amounts of organic salts.

Enzymes will only liquefy a waste, thereby changing the form of the waste; they can not digest it, like microbes do. Microbes produce their own enzymes that help to digest waste, changing it into harmless byproducts of carbon dioxide and water. You can have an enzyme product without microbes, but it can not digest and bioremediate the waste.

No. The Bacillus spores, in all likelihood, are already present in the soils and waterways of the earth’s wetlands. The spores are very tolerant of brackish and sea water. The microbes do not recognize roadway asphalt as a food source. Micro-Blaze® Microbial Products are used by golf courses and farms to improve the health of the grass. These Microbes only digest organic materials and are therefore safe on all rubber, plastic, and metals.

The pH of Micro-Blaze® Microbial Products ranges (when diluted to proper application rates) from 7.0 – 8.0. The microbes work in pH environments ranging from about 4.5 – 10.5, with the optimal range being from 6.0 – 9.0

Please refer to the application section under each individual Micro-Blaze® product page for the recommended dosing for various uses

Application & Usage

Usage and dilution rates vary by product, so please refer to each product page for exact instructions.

The information below applies to Micro-Blaze® Emergency Liquid Spill Control, our most commonly used product and representative of typical use:
  • Soil remediation: 1 gallon Micro-Blaze® + 9 gallons of water treats:  5 yds3, or 500 ft2, or 10 gallons of spilled hydrocarbon
  • Hard surfaces:  1 gallon Micro-Blaze® + 9 gallons of water treats 500 ft2
Application methods may vary by product, so please refer to each product page for detailed instructions.

The information below applies to Micro-Blaze® Emergency Liquid Spill Control, our most commonly used product and representative of typical application needs:
  • Dilute Micro-Blaze® concentrate with water at 10% ratio (1g MB + 9g Water).  Apply with any type of sprayer or pressure washer.
  • Soil:  Work into soil. Ensure soil doesn’t dry out.  Maintain 5% moisture content
  • Hard surfaces: Scrub into surface to help penetration
Micro-Blaze® will remediate organics in temperatures from 32F – 130F. Below freezing, microbes won’t die, but stay dormant until temperatures rise above freezing.
Yes, microbes will only remediate liquid organic waste.  Will not damage plastic, rubber, coatings.
10 year shelf life in concentrate form in container. 12 month shelf life after diluted with water.

About the Science

A microbe is a microscopic, living bacteria organism. Micro-Blaze® uses naturally occurring microbes that are selected for their ability to break down oils and other pollutants.
Micro-Blaze® contains various strains of naturally occurring, non-pathogenic Bacillus bacteria. Once applied, they activate in minutes and digest contaminants into water, carbon dioxide, and organic salts.
A proprietary blend of spore-forming, non-patheogenic bacteria, nutrients, and wetting agents—all non-toxic and designed to enhance bioremediation performance.
Enzyme products only liquefy the waste, they do not remediate it. Micro-Blaze® uses live microbes that fully digest and eliminate it, leaving behind only safe, natural byproducts.
No. It’s safe for use on asphalt, plastic, rubber, concrete, metal, and plants. Micro-Blaze® only remediates liquid, organic contaminants.
Micro-Blaze® has a pH of 7.0–8.0. The microbes stay active between pH 4.5–10.5, with optimal results between 6.0–9.0.
